Nolan - Released
|
West Ham United can confirm that Kevin Nolan has left the Club by mutual consent.
The 33-year-old has departed the Hammers after four years, 157 games and 31 goals and leaves with the very best wishes of everyone at the Boleyn Ground.
Nolan, who was signed from Newcastle United in June 2011, captained West Ham to promotion via a memorable Championship Play-Off final in his first season before helping to establish the Club in the Barclays Premier League. The Liverpool-born player also finished as the Hammers' leading scorer in the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons.
West Ham United would like to thank Kevin for his considerable effort and commitment over the past four seasons and wish him all the very best for the future, on and off the football pitch.
Nolan said: "Ive thoroughly enjoyed my time at West Ham United and will take some great memories with me. Im now looking forward to the next challenge playing for a new club."

Did a good job for us in his time at the club and was a good captain.
It all got a bit silly when he started playing in CM. I felt a bit sorry for him when he got all the abuse about his performances in 2nd half of the season. He didn't deserve that but then a percentage of our fans always look to place blame on 2/3 players when the reality is we just aren't that good. That will never change.
I wish him well and I'm sure he will do a great job for a Championship side.
He wouldn't have made Bilic's bench when everyone was available and he knows it.

A. N. Other.
If Nolan was worth paying over a million quid to leave a threadbare squad, how could he have been the best option a few days earlier?

According to some bloke on Twatter Nolan has been talking to the locals in an Epping pub this week about how the squad don't like Julian Dicks. Not sure how much truth is in that but it wouldn't surprise me at all.

Bilic started with Nolan and Maiga saw more game time in a few weeks with him than he did with Fatty in a year.

Nolan's whole game was based around scoring goals. He hasn't scored one at Upton Park for 18 months. That's actually about when he should have been released.

If Nolan is as good as his word and just wants to play football then fair play, even more so if he's taken less than he's entitled to.
Shame all footballers aren't like that.

I describe Sam's time as a big dose of cod liver oil. Nothing I would get excited about or say was delicious, but ultimately good for us. It's easy for me to see it that way as I don't go regularly, living abroad.
So....you would rather be relegated and come up with a different manager rather than build on Sam's legacy of well funded promotion, or can you stomach that much legacy?

but just because he came with Sam?
Yeah.... problem?? Fucking hated Allardyce as a manager... whenever his teams were on TV I would snore.. if you ever got excited by watching Allardyce and Nolan then I say you have never lived... and so fucking what he got us promoted... big fucking deal... had the biggest budget in the league... it was hardly his genius that done it

Starting to look a bit short numbers wise. I'm sure the 2 wise men have a number of mouth watering signings up their bolero selves - and I'm not talking about loan deals for ageing has been Italians

Have a word with yourself. It's good because he isn't up to it anymore, I'd agree.......but just because he came with Sam?
Promotion was part of Allardyce's legacy aswell. Do you want to go down so we can come upo with someone different?
